At the height of Egypt's April 6 Revolution (2008–2011), an Egyptian blogger named "Aliaa Magda" took a shameless and unprecedented step by posing nude. The Washington Post described this act as a "revolution in the Arab world." Following her example, a group of Israeli women posted nude photos in support of "Aliaa," using this act as a tool to criticize Islamic laws.
Ultimately, after many twists and turns, on June 30, 2013, the Egyptian army, with Israeli support, staged a coup against Mohamed Morsi's government. The popular revolution was seized by the army, which was under U.S. influence. Power eventually fell into the hands of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who is reported to have Jewish ancestry, thus redirecting the path of the popular revolution.
