Gridline artifacts are linear image distortions caused by the lead strips in stationary (non-moving) grids used in radiography. They become visible when the grid lines are aligned with the digital detector and are not adequately blurred, which is more common in digital radiography systems. These artifacts can interfere with diagnostic interpretation by obscuring anatomical details.

Motion Blur in Radiology
____
Motion blur refers to the blurring of an image caused by movement during the exposure time in imaging processes like X-ray. It occurs when the object (patient or imaging equipment) moves during the imaging process, resulting in an unclear or distorted image.
----------------------
Causes of Motion Blur

• Patient Movement: If the patient is not completely still during the exposure, even small movements can cause the X-ray image to blur.

• Breathing Movements: For certain imaging procedures (like chest X-rays or abdominal imaging), even slight breathing can cause motion blur.

• Long Exposure Times: Longer exposure times increase the likelihood of motion blur because they allow more time for any slight movement to affect the image.

• Unstable Equipment: If the X-ray machine itself moves or is not stabilized, this could also cause motion blur.
