Suspension of on-campus face-to-face classes
We hope you and your family well during this difficult time.
Considering the volatilities of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the need to safeguard your health through stringent infection control on campus as well as our commitment to the continuation of students’ learning, the University has further reviewed and decided on class arrangements for the second semester as below:
(1)
All on-campus face-to-face classes are suspended until further notice. Studies will continue in the form of eLearning, and make-up classes will be arranged after resumption of face-to-face classes when the situation permits at a later date.
(2)
Face-to-face instructions will resume when the threat of the coronavirus outbreak is substantially contained and your health and wellbeing are duly considered. The University will then conduct mixed-mode teaching, with face-to-face teaching and online teaching delivered synchronously.
(3)
The University plans to complete all instructions and assessments for programmes without practical work by the end of May so that students will be able to finish the academic year or graduate on time. For programmes with practical work such as laboratory or studio sessions that must be delivered face-to-face, make-up classes will be arranged in the summer. You should take this into account when planning for your summer engagements. Programme directors will issue separate announcements promptly on their specific arrangements.

For non-local students currently outside Hong Kong: DO NOT return to Hong Kong until and unless we notify you to do so. Regardless of how the viral outbreak turns out, we will give you ample advance notice so that you will have ample time to get yourselves ready before you return to campus. Until then, no need to worry about travelling to Hong Kong.
We understand that you will have questions and concerns arising from the above arrangements. You are highly encouraged to discuss with your teachers and programme directors for assistance.
